As the first storm system that brought beneficial rain to the 
Sunflower State yesterday through this morning moved eastward, a 
second storm system developed off the Rockies and brought rain and 
possible storms for northwest Kansas this afternoon. Afternoon high 
temperatures ranged from the lower 60s to lower 70s across Kansas. 
Winds were light to variable and prevailed throughout the afternoon.

Tonight, the storm system will continue to push east, bringing 
continuous chances of rain and storms across the Central Plains. 
Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop down to the middle 30s 
across western Nebraska, to the upper 40s across eastern Oklahoma. As 
the storm system moves southeast overnight, the winds ahead of the 
front will be out of the south at 5 to 10 mph. Winds behind the 
front will switch to the north and increase to 15 to 25 mph, with 
gusts of 30 to 40 mph.

On Friday, the storm system will slowly continue to move eastward 
across southern Nebraska, bringing continuous chances of showers and 
storms across eastern Nebraska and down through central Oklahoma. 
High temperatures will range from the upper 50s to lower 70s 
across the Central Plains. Winds will be out of the north at 15 to 25 
mph, with gusts of 35 to 45 mph.
